AC Milan defeated archrivals Inter Milan 3-0 at San Siro on Wednesday night to advance to the Coppa Italia 2025 final after a 4-1 aggregate triumph in the semi-final.
Milan took a commanding lead with Luka Jović scoring twice in the 36th and 50th minutes. In the 85th minute, Tijjani Reijnders scored a stunning third, sending Rossoneri fans wild and sealing Milan’s trip to Rome for the final.
Inter had 56% possession and 16 shots, but Simone Inzaghi’s team only managed three shots on target. Milan was ruthless, scoring three of eight shots. The Rossoneri’s tactical discipline and precision finishing won.
Most of the derby was played in high spirits, with only one Inter player yellow card. Milan kept their cool and launched quick counterattacks that exposed Inter’s defense.
After the match, Jović stressed the victory’s significance, given Milan’s previous Serie A troubles.
A crucial game for us. You know we’re not excellent in Serie A. We have to demonstrate quality today. Jovic stated we had to display character. “And we showed it and we are going to Rome.”
Reijnders, like his teammate, acknowledged Milan’s struggles this season but was optimistic about the future.
“Many believe,” Reijnders stated. We struggle in the league, but this is the fastest road to Europe. If we play like today, we can win this trophy.
