Al-Hilal Extend Winning Run in ACL Elite

On Monday, Al-Hilal maintained its rampant status in the Asian Champions League Elite, prevailing in a difficult game against Al-Gharafa in Doha and thus keeping its unbeatable streak in the western league phase.

The Saudi Pro League leaders began on a high note, with coach Simone Inzaghi leading the club by scoring the goal in the ninth minute due to a precise cross by Joao Cancelo to Salem Al-Dawsari. The target soothed the initial nerves and put Al-Hilal in charge of the game. Later, in the second half, Kaio Cesar scored a long-range goal in the 66th minute to increase their lead, further demonstrating the squad’s strength in the attack and confidence.

Al-Gharafa also conceded late and scored a stoppage-time goal with the help of Ayoub Al-Ouwi. Yet, Al-Hilal defended its position to take its fourth consecutive victory and secured the top position two points ahead of Al-Wahda (UAE). The 12-team stage will be followed by the top eight teams to the knockout rounds that will be held in March.

In other matches, Al-Duhail shocked Shabab Al-Ahli 4-1 to make their campaign win on the first occasion, breaking the winning streak of the Dubai club. Edmilson Junior and Benjamin Bourigeaud’s objectives put Al-Duhail at the top early, and Adil Boulbina and Luis Alberto finished a display of superiority.

Al-Wahda also created late drama when they defeated Nasaf 2-1 in Qarshi. Having gone behind to Sardorbek Bakhromov’s opener, they reversed their fortunes with an equalizer by Favour Ogbu and a late header by Caio Canedo in the 89th minute.

In other matches, the Tractor FC of Iran beat the Al-Shorta of Iraq 1-0 and Mehdi Torabi scored in the 26th to take them into the third place. The outcome preconditions the thrilling qualification battle as the league stage enters the second half.
