Son Heung-min was among new recruits by LAFC to join the city based club, and he welcomed the front to play alongside legendary footballer Lionel Messi at the Major League Soccer (MLS) level, saying he was fortunate to have gotten this opportunity in playing alongside the captain of Inter Miami, according to the international media reports on Friday.
Son came to the LAFC in a club-record transfer of 26 million dollars having previously set the MLS record of 22 million dollars, which was paid by Atlanta United FC in the winter of 2019 when they acquired the services of Emmanuel Latte Lath.
Since joining MLS, Son has smiled that it will be an honour to play in the same pitch with legend Messi. He went ahead to say that he was also keen on joining the American soccer league due to the Argentine superstar.
“It’s huge. I mean, what we consider ourselves highly fortunate to see Lionel Messi in the same generation playing football. Seeing him play, scoring so many goals and joining the MLS I think it will be an influence to so many players, and to me it influences me that what he has achieved to his club and to his nation. It simply also changed my mind too according to son.
In his former team Tottenham, Son used to play 454 games and scored 173 goals. He has also achieved the best goal scorer in the premier league (Golden Boot) in the 2021-22 season.
The Koreans had subordinated to Tottenham in August 2015 Son Heung-min, who raised his first trophy with the Spurs when they defeated Manchester United in the final of the Europa League.
Son is also the seventh player of all time at Spurs to make 450 appearances. He has earlier served Bundesliga teams Hamburger SV, and Bayer Leverkusen.
