Following the end of the Saudi Pro League with loss in his last game, Cristiano Ronaldo on Tuesday made a vague social media post hinting on his Al Nassr future.
The forty-year-old forward joined Al Nassr back in 2022 and has a contract ending in June. With 25 goals, Ronaldo finished the Saudi Pro League season ranking highest among all the scorers. But with Champions Al Ittihad topping the standings with 83 points and Al Hilal on second with 75 points in a 34-match league, his club came in third with 70 points.
Al Nassr has also not been able to land a place for the AFC Champions League next season.
Following the club’s last League game, Ronaldo uploaded a picture of himself sporting the Al Nassr jersey on X (previously Twitter) accompanied by a cryptic statement. Al Nassr lost their last match of the season 3-2 against Al Fateh. Still, Ronaldo scored his 99th goal in 105th appearance for the team.
According to reports last week, an unidentified Brazilian team that will take part in the FIFA Club World Cup next month has made Ronaldo a very attractive offer.
The Brazilian teams scheduled for the next month’s event are Botafogo, Fluminense, Flamengo and Palmeiras. In an interview, FIFA President Gianni Infantino also disclosed that although Ronaldo’s club, Al-Nassr, failed to qualify, there are “discussons” about his participation in the event this summer.
Notably, the inaugural 32-team Club World Cup edition by FIFA will take place in the United States from June 14 to July 13.
