Enzo Maresca Manchester City concerns have been played down by the new manager, who insists he is not worried about uncertainty surrounding several players as the club prepares for further transfer activity before the window closes.
Manchester City start their Premier League campaign against Bournemouth at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday, and will want to bounce back from their 3-0 loss to Arsenal in the Community Shield. The match will be Maresca’s first Premier League start since he took command last summer as he gets to work on rebuilding the team after radical changes.
Rodri has joined Barcelona, while Savinho is nearing a move to Tottenham Hotspur. The reason for both players wanting to leave was known to be the lack of playing time, according to Maresca, and they had both put it on the record.
This is not the case with Omar Marmoush. The Egypt international is also believed to be interested in leaving, but Maresca suggested that Marmoush hasn’t been as vocal about it as Rodri and Savinho. It is said Tottenham are interested in signing Marmoush at the same time as they are interested in signing Savinho, and the two transfers are thought to have a combined value of around £160million.
Even with the departures and rumours, Maresca is confident in the squad and is hoping for more to happen before the transfer window opens. City have been busy in the market and are continuing to look at midfield alternatives since Rodri’s departure. Maresca has also insisted that the defeat in the Community Shield is not impacting the club’s transfer plans
