Brazil defeated Chile 3-0 in a world cup qualifier in Rio de Janeiro on Thursday with Estevao, Lucas Paqueta and Bruno Guimaraes each scoring.
The five-time world champions began the game on the offensive foot when a on-target header by midfielder Casemiro was disallowed due to offside.
In the 38th minute, Estevao, the teenager of Brazil, scored the first goal of the game, which placed his team ahead. The Chelsea winger scored his first national goal by netting the ball with just a short distance. The first half was dominated by Brazil which entered the second half leading 1-0.
Guillermo Maripan, the Chile defender, was sent off in the second half but the red card was changed to a yellow after a Video Assistant Referee (VAR) consultation.
Paqueta, a midfielder, entered as a substitute at 71 minutes and less than a minute later, when given an opportunity by Luiz Henrique, he scored the second goal in Brazil.
The midfielder scored only two days after the Football Association informed it would not challenge the ruling to absolve Paqueta of allegations of spot-fixing.
Brazil ended the victory when Newcastle midfielder Guimaraes headed the ball over the line following a shot by Henrique who struck the bar.
The Carlo Ancelotti team has performed very well in the qualifiers where they have already secured their spot in the tournament next year, but the victory gave the team an opportunity to better their standing on the table as they were second with just one game left.
Argentina sits at the top of the table on 38 points, defeating Venezuela 3-0 in Buenos Aires and Brazil are second with 10 points behind Lionel Messi and one point ahead of Uruguay, who defeated Venezuela 3-0 in Buenos Aires.
On Tuesday, Brazil will play Bolivia in their last qualifier in El Alto.
