Liverpool’s Isak Offer Rejected by Newcastle

Newcastle United rejected Liverpool’s formal offer for Alexander Isak, British media reported Friday.

Newcastle value Isak at £150m, but Liverpool offered £110m plus add-ons. Since Eddie Howe left him out of his pre-season tour of Asia, the Sweden international has been training at Real Sociedad and considers leaving Newcastle this summer.

Isak, who joined Newcastle from Real Sociedad for £60m in 2022, scored 27 goals in 42 appearances in all competitions last season.

Liverpool were mulling a £130m bid for Isak in July, according to British media. Newcastle have been reluctant to sell Isak this summer, but Liverpool are persistent in their pursuit.

The Premier League champions made an informal approach to Newcastle last month and now have an official bid. Liverpool manager Arne Slot wants to get Isak before the new season, therefore the club will make a stronger offer.

Liverpool signed Florian Wirtz, Milos Kerkez, Jeremie Frimpong, Giorgi Mamardashvili, Armin Pecsi, and Hugo Ekitike for £265m without add-ons. Luis Diaz, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Jarell Quansah, and Caoimhin Kelleher left for £115m.

Newcastle is searching for a successor for Isak, who has three years left on his deal. Although the club insists he is not for sale.
