Messi Ronaldo Reunion Could Happen

A Messi Ronaldo reunion could be one of the biggest attractions at Carlos Tevez’s upcoming farewell match, with the former Argentina and Manchester United striker reportedly inviting both superstars to the event. Tevez is set to host a star-studded celebration at his home club La Bombonera where a whiffle wind of about 60 people from his decorated career are expected to be in attendance, according to reports.

Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are believed to be on the guest list. They are yet to be confirmed but have already attracted football fans’ attention.

It would be significant if both of the modern-day greats were to meet at the same pitch. For most of their careers, Messi and Ronaldo have been synonymous with one of football’s biggest individual rivalries but few chances have been available for them to play together.

Ronaldo also has a personal link to Tevez as both spent their time at Manchester United. The two were teammates for much of the 2007 season and had a very successful time. While with United, they won back-to-back Premier League championships and the UEFA Champions League in 2007-08 and the FIFA Club World Cup in 2008.

Tevez then had a marvellous career with Boca Juniors, Manchester City and then Juventus and eventually retired from professional football. His announced exit at La Bombonera is thus likely to draw together a number of big names from his career.

The prospect of Messi and Ronaldo attending the invitation has already generated a huge amount of excitement, although it is not yet clear if they will accept it. But if the two legends do emerge, then Tevez’s retirement might be an event to be remembered for the modern age of football.
