Mohamed Salah Defends Alexander-Arnold Against Harsh Fans

Mohamed Salah has defended Trent Alexander-Arnold, who was booed by Liverpool supporters at Anfield on Sunday during their Premier League encounter against Arsenal.

Salah claimed the defender did not deserve such treatment after leaving his childhood club this summer. After his Liverpool contract expires in June, Alexander-Arnold will join Real Madrid.

English footballer born in Liverpool progressed through the club’s youth before making his debut in 2016.

After announcing his departure, he played his first match against Arsenal, a 2-2 draw on Sunday, to jeers from the supporters. Mohamed Salah told Sky Sports that supporters were nasty. He stressed that the player deserved recognition for his contributions to the team and fans.

“I think somehow the fans were being harsh with him,” he stated.

“He didn’t deserve it at the time, but he earned the best treatment from the fans since he gave it all.

“We shouldn’t act this way with anyone who always appreciates the people, who came here even for six months.”

He added that he hopes the next game is different and that the player deserves a decent farewell. Imagine someone who gives his best for 20 years. It shouldn’t be. I hope that changes next week, against Brighton or in the season finale, because he deserves a farewell.”
