After Alexander Isak joined Liverpool on Monday, Newcastle United bought Brentford striker Yoane Wissa for 55 million pounds ($74.30 million) to replace him.
Since Newcastle learned Isak would join Liverpool for 125 million pounds, they were connected with the 28-year-old DR Congo international. Newcastle manager Eddie Howe is pleased with Wissa’s arrival because the striker has established himself in the Premier League.
“Yoane is a player who we have admired for some time and we’re delighted to have him on board,” he said.
“He brings proven Premier League quality, demonstrated not only by his goalscoring output but also the crucial work he does for the team.”
The Bees and Wissa had a standoff after Brentford rejected Newcastle’s bids. Since joining Brentford from Lorient, Yoane Wissa has made 137 Premier League appearances and scored 45 goals, however he has not played this season because to Magpies links.
Wissa said on social media last week that Brentford should let him join Newcastle. After signing, Yoane said he was excited to join Newcastle and will work hard to make it happen.
“I’m really happy to be here and to sign for one of the biggest clubs in the Premier League,” stated.
“I’m thrilled to wear the black and white shirt. I have dreams, faith, and will try to make them come true. I’m eager to begin.”
Newcastle signed Wissa and Nick Woltemade as attackers, Anthony Elanga, Jacob Ramsey, and Aaron Ramsdale, despite Isak’s defeat.
