Aveiro, an outspoken person, wrote a long rebuttal on Instagram, claiming to be hypocritical and to have politicised an otherwise personal encounter unnecessarily.
As Aveiro claims, the event is being politicized by the critics to suit political agendas, even though Ronaldo has a record of not being associated with partisan matters. She wrote that Cristiano never had any representation and was not aligned to any party or ideology. He is symbolic of hard work, something that most of his critics cannot comprehend. Her remarks indicate a developing frustration among the Ronaldo family because of the online commentary criticizing every action of the forward.
The captain of the Portuguese ship was visiting Washington on the Saudi delegation who were doing a tour around the United States. The visit saw Donald Trump personally appreciate Ronaldo as he came to see him and even disclosed that his own son Barron, who was a fan of the football star, was happy to meet the football star. Trump said that the meeting was an honour and the moment might have made his son appreciate him even more.
The reaction of the people that came after the meeting was, however, what triggered the backlash. Political analysts and commentators tried to see a political motive in the presence of Ronaldo though there was no indication that he had any political motive to do so.
