Struggling Dortmund End Sahin’s Tenure in 2025

Nuri Sahin was fired from Borussia Dortmund after six months. The choice was made after the team’s fourth straight loss in all competitions—a 2-1 loss to Bologna in the Champions League on Tuesday. Because of this unexpected event, the future of the dysfunctional squad is unclear.

Following Edin Terzic’s resignation as manager, Sahin took over with high hopes but failed in the end. Dortmund, winner of the Champions League the previous year, dropped to tenth place in the Bundesliga after losing all three games in 2025. The loss of Europe’s best club event made things harder.

Lars Ricken, the general manager of Dortmund, said the choice was hard but necessary because the team had only won one of its nine games. Sahin, who used to play for the club and was a school product, came back to it successfully in 2024 as an assistant coach before becoming manager. His contract was extended until 2027, but it finished early.

We will soon know who will be in charge of Dortmund’s attack and lead it against Werder Bremen.Struggling Dortmund End Sahin's Tenure in 2025
