What Nkunku’s Move Means for AC Milan?

After a disappointing spell in England, AC Milan signed forward Christopher Nkunku on a five-year contract from Chelsea on Saturday.

British media estimate the transfer fee at €42 million ($49.17 million). After a fantastic career start in Germany, Nkunku failed to match fans’ and his team’s expectations in the Premier League. He will now aim to restore his form with the new signing.

Nkunku signed a six-year contract with Chelsea in June 2023 after a successful time in the Bundesliga, where he was praised for his versatility, creativity, and goal-scoring.

Injuries and sporadic playing time prevented him from succeeding in England. Nkunku scored 18 goals in 62 Chelsea games.

Despite personal struggles, Nkunku helped Chelsea win the FIFA Club World Cup and UEFA Conference League.

Milan’s rebuilding strategy includes Nkunku, who signed after the team’s eighth-place finish in Serie A last season.

The Rossoneri are also signing Ardon Jashari, Samuele Ricci, and Pervis Estupinan this summer to reclaim domestic and European significance.

Milan expects Nkunku’s offensive prowess and extensive experience to make an impact, and moving to Italy gives him a chance to re-establish his top-tier form. Nkunku will wear 18 on his shirt.
