Will Arsenal’s Eberechi Eze signing impact Spurs clash?

On Thursday, foreign media reported that Arsenal hijacked Tottenham Hotspur’s move for Crystal Palace midfielder Eberechi Eze and agreed a £67.5m ($91m) agreement.

After reaching an agreement with Palace and Eze, media reports say Spurs felt confident enough to clinch the deal on Wednesday. Reports say Arsenal have agreed on a £60m agreement with Eze, with £7.5m in add-ons. Thursday’s Conference League playoff first leg against Fredrikstad may be Eze’s last game for Palace.

Arsenal were more concerned about Ethan Nwaneri, who was entering his final year of his contract without a contract, before Kai Havertz’s injury. The adolescent then signed a five-year contract.

After spending £200m this summer, Arteta’s side focused on selling before pursuing Eze. After learning Havertz’s injury was serious, the Gunners hijacked Tottenham’s move for Palace’s Eze.

Havertz is expected to miss time with a knee injury. Arsenal’s open training session at Emirates Stadium on Wednesday was also missed by Havertz, who is reportedly under evaluation. The Gunners are waiting for the final news to establish how long he will be out of action.

Gabriel Jesus’ knee surgery in January precludes him from playing for a long time, which would hurt Arsenal. When Spurs expressed interest in Eze, 27, the midfielder was a boyhood Arsenal supporter and was thought to be open to joining the Gunners.
