Discussions around Roberto De Zerbi Tottenham talk have taken a dramatic turn as it is alleged that the Italian manager has accepted to lead Tottenham Hotspur on long term contract in one of the worst seasons in the club in the recent years.
As the new news reports, it is now De Zerbi who has been the first choice to be hired as the permanent manager of Spurs. The fact that this decision was reached indicates how much time is running out in the club because Tottenham are on the verge of getting kicked out of the premier league.
Spurs are at present just out of the drop zone, which would have been inconceivable at the beginning of the season. The decline has been significantly contributed by the managerial instability. Following the departure of Thomas Frank and Ange Postecoglou, the club considered a very short-lived solution in Igor Tudor. Nonetheless, Tudor could win only one game out of seven games, which could not stabilize the situation.
Roberto De Zerbi is now under the limelight. De Zerbi is known to have a well-organized, attacking style, which has been perceived as a coach who can transform a troubled team. However, this is not an ideal situation. Tottenham is not like any other long-term project, as the issue of survival is a concern.
Interestingly, it is reported that De Zerbi first wanted to join in the end of the season. Such a strategy would have enabled him to rebuild without having to fight a relegation fight. Tottenham leadership however seems eager to see quick results as he has a chance of saving the club.
Mauricio Pochettino was another name associated with the position. His loyalty to the United States national team however disqualified him and De Zerbi was the best candidate.
